About Selwyn Hall School
Located in the picturesque grounds of Foxton, our SEN school caters to children aged 7-18 with various needs, including ASD, ADHD, and anxiety. With small class sizes of 4-6 pupils, we ensure that every child receives the personalized attention they deserve. Our facilities include:
- Refurbished classrooms and activity rooms for science, computing, music, drama, and art/DT
- Outdoor learning spaces, including a forest school, sports pitch, sensory trail, and play equipment

Your Role and Responsibilities
As a One-to-One Teaching Assistant, you will:
- Mentor and support one pupil or a small group of no more than six
- Assist the classroom teacher during lessons and help with lesson planning
- Report on pupil progress and collaborate with staff to meet individual needs
- Supervise pupils during non-classroom activities, including school trips
- Build positive relationships with pupils to foster engagement and learning
What We’re Looking For
To thrive in this role, you should have:
- A strong educational background, ideally to A-level, with at least GCSE Grade C or equivalent in English Language and Mathematics
- Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant or in a similar role
- Experience working with pupils with SEMH in an educational setting
- Confidence in taking on additional responsibilities, such as food hygiene or forest school
- A commitment to professional development and a willingness to learn
Working Conditions
This is a fixed-term, full-time position for one year, working during term time only. The salary ranges from £21,257.48 to £23,232.69, depending on experience.
