Your Role and Responsibilities
As a School Caretaker, you will be responsible for maintaining two small to medium-sized school sites. Your key tasks will include:
- Maintaining clean, safe, and secure school premises, including buildings and grounds.
- Carrying out cleaning, maintenance tasks, and minor repairs.
- Supervising school cleaning staff and promoting health and safety.
- Managing porterage duties, such as moving furniture and equipment.
- Reporting any issues to the Headteacher and arranging larger repairs.
- Conducting daily cleaning and emergency cleaning duties.
- Arranging annual deep cleans of frequently used spaces.
- Maintaining cleaning tools and products, ensuring good stock levels.
- Locking and unlocking the premises as required.
What We’re Looking For
To thrive in this role, you should have:
- Previous caretaking experience within a school environment.
- Experience in building maintenance and security systems.
- A good understanding of health and safety regulations.
- Basic DIY skills and good interpersonal abilities.
- Literacy and numeracy skills.
- A willingness to work with SEMH children.
- A full driving license and access to your own car.
- A readiness to travel between both sites.
The successful candidate will be required to complete an enhanced DBS check, which will be covered by Polaris.
