About the Role
As a 1:1 Learning Support Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting the educational and social development of our Year 6 and Year 7 pupils with Special Educational Needs. Working closely with our SENDCo and teaching staff, you will:
- Assist the Class Teacher in providing tailored support to pupils on a one-to-one or small group basis.
- Help prepare and maintain differentiated resources to meet the requirements of the pupil's Educational Care Health Plan.
- Engage in a variety of activities and supported learning tasks.
Key Responsibilities
- Support teaching and learning for individuals and small groups.
- Deliver targeted support for pupils with SEND, including implementing IEPs, EHCPs, and intervention programmes.
- Promote positive behaviour, independence, wellbeing, and inclusion.
- Provide pastoral support and contribute to safeguarding and child protection.
- Supervise pupils during breaktimes, lunchtimes, and other non-classroom activities.
- Support the delivery of school events, educational visits, and extracurricular activities.
- Participate in meetings and professional development.
About You
We are looking for someone who is enthusiastic about education and has:
- Previous experience working with young people, preferably in an educational setting.
- Experience with children with SEND, particularly ASC or SEMH.
- GCSEs in Maths and English, grade C or above.
- A Level 3 Qualification in Learning Support or Childcare (desirable).
- The ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with children.
- Basic computer literacy skills and a flexible approach to working.
Working Conditions
This is a fixed-term, part-time position with 29.17 hours per week, starting in September. The salary is up to £15,423.23 per annum.
