Location: Manchester/Newcastle or Birmingham – with agile working options
Hours: 40 hours per week (flexibility available!)
Starting Salary: From £42,000 per annum
Sector: Mechanical, Electrical, and Technology – Highways

Your Role

As a Technology Design Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in delivering innovative highways technology solutions throughout the entire project lifecycle. You’ll be responsible for:

  • Developing, coordinating, and assuring designs for integrated digital and roadside systems.
  • Ensuring compliance with client requirements and industry standards.
  • Collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to create safe and efficient infrastructure across major UK projects.

Are You the Right Fit?

We’re looking for someone who is:

  • HNC/Degree-qualified (or working towards) in Electrical, Electronic, Communications, or Technology Engineering.
  • Experienced in highways or infrastructure technology design.
  • Familiar with National Highways standards (e.g., DMRB, TA401).
  • Comfortable working across ITS, communications, or digital infrastructure.
  • A strong problem-solver with a collaborative mindset.

Your Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

  • Deliver technology design across ITS, communications, power, and digital infrastructure.
  • Produce detailed drawings, specifications, and technical documentation (2D/3D).
  • Ensure compliance with DMRB, National Highways, and industry standards.
  • Support design assurance and compliance with governance frameworks.
  • Identify and mitigate technical risks for successful project delivery.
  • Collaborate with clients, stakeholders, and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Contribute to bids, innovation, digital engineering, and team development.
