Join Our Team as a Design Team Leader!

Are you ready to take your career to the next level? We’re on the lookout for two passionate Design Team Leaders to join our Drainage and Water teams in Salford. In this role, you’ll collaborate closely with the Design Manager and our wider Kier teams to enhance team capabilities, forge strong client relationships, and drive value across our infrastructure projects.

Location & Hours

Location: Salford, Optimum House, M50 3XP - some remote working options available!

Hours: 37.5 hours per week - enjoy flexibility in your schedule!

Salary: £50,000 - £57,500 per year + private healthcare + £5.9k annual car allowance + additional benefits

Your Responsibilities

As a Design Team Leader, you’ll spearhead a talented team of drainage and water design professionals, delivering innovative and sustainable solutions across a diverse range of projects. Your role will include:

  • Leading and motivating a dynamic team of 7-14, nurturing their professional growth and fostering collaboration.
  • Acting as the technical lead for your assigned work packages, ensuring compliance with design standards.
  • Managing programmes, budgets, and risks across various transportation, building & development, and water projects.
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients, LLFAs, National Highways, and utilities.
  • Driving innovation and process improvements, while encouraging knowledge sharing and technical excellence.

What We’re Looking For

This role is perfect for you if you:

  • Have a proven track record in leading and developing design teams, including managing experienced engineers and early-career staff.
  • Are confident in managing clients and key stakeholders, with excellent communication skills and a history of positive outcomes.
  • Have successfully delivered high-quality, compliant highway drainage and flood risk solutions.
  • Possess practical knowledge of DMRB, LLFA requirements, and local authority standards.
  • Hold a full UK driving licence and are open to travel as needed.
