Are you ready to make a significant impact in the world of rail infrastructure? We are seeking a Senior Geotechnical Engineer to join our dynamic East West Rail team in St Neots, Cambridgeshire.

Location & Working Hours

Location: St Neots, Cambridgeshire – hybrid working

Hours: Permanent Full-time, 45 hours per week – we’re open to condensed hours and flexible schedules, just let us know what works for you!

Your Role

As a Senior Geotechnical Engineer, you will play a crucial role in delivering high-quality geotechnical surveys for the East West Rail project. Your expertise will help ensure safe and efficient ground investigations, providing essential data for the next generation of rail infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

In this exciting position, you will:

  • Facilitate the planning and programming of ground investigation fieldwork with drilling suppliers.
  • Track and record progress against the program, ensuring quality and consistency in borehole log descriptions.
  • Conduct safety inspections and audits, proactively recording near misses and safety incidents.
  • Identify potential issues early and collaborate with drilling suppliers to find effective solutions.
  • Support drill rig inspections and coordinate with the land access manager regarding site availability.

What We’re Looking For

We’re excited to meet candidates who have:

  • A degree in Civil Engineering, Earth Sciences, Geology, or a related field, providing a solid technical foundation.
  • Extensive experience in delivering ground investigations and site-based geotechnical work.
  • Confidence in using AGS geotechnical data and Common Data Environment (CDE) systems to keep projects organized.
  • Experience managing subcontractors, showcasing strong planning, coordination, and communication skills.
  • A full driving license and the flexibility to travel to sites as needed.
