Are you ready to make a difference in Birmingham? We are seeking a passionate Highways Maintenance Operative to join our dedicated team based at Thimble Mill Lane, Birmingham. This is your chance to play a vital role in maintaining the city's highways network!

About the Role

As a Highways Maintenance Operative, you will be part of a supportive team focused on keeping Birmingham's highways and greenspaces safe and beautiful. Your hands-on work will include:

  • Carrying out stump grinding, root pruning, tree pit creation, and re-staking.
  • Setting up safe working sites on the highway and engaging with the public.
  • Following safety procedures, risk assessments, and safe systems of work at all times.
  • Completing safety-critical emergency works as needed.
  • Maintaining accurate paperwork, including LOLER check sheets and HAVS forms.

What We’re Looking For

This role is perfect for you if you have:

  • City & Guilds NPTC/Lantra chainsaw and stump grinding qualifications.
  • NRSWA or equivalent operative qualification.
  • Experience with CAT & Genny and practical skills in using them.
  • NPORS (or equivalent) lorry loader with clamshell and timber grab attachments.
  • A full driving licence.

Working Conditions

This position offers:

  • Location: Thimble Mill Lane, Birmingham, B7 5HR
  • Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 07:00 to 15:30
