As part of Kier’s impressive 750-strong internal consultancy, you’ll play a vital role in delivering Civil & Structural Infrastructure Engineering services that make a real impact.
This is an incredible opportunity to contribute to complex projects, providing innovative solutions that are not only safe and buildable but also align with our clients' goals. Our Structures & Geotechnical capability is expanding, and we work with esteemed clients such as Local Authorities, National Highways, Network Rail, and various water sector clients including Anglian Water, Southern Water, and Thames Water.
Location & Working Conditions
Location: Norwich - Enjoy the flexibility of remote working, with occasional travel to the office required.
Hours: 40 hours per week - We offer some flexibility on hours, just let us know your preferences during our conversation.

Your Responsibilities
As a Design Engineer, you’ll be an integral part of the Structures and Geotechnical team, supporting the delivery of infrastructure projects across various sectors. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:
- Designing Permanent Works for structures, highways, geotechnics, and infrastructure, ensuring integration with temporary works considerations.
- Supporting tender and bid submissions with outline designs, feasibility studies, and value engineering solutions.
- Conducting technical assessments and reviews of third-party designs to ensure compliance with client and Kier requirements.
- Undertaking site visits, surveys, and inspections, providing expert technical advice on safety and construction matters.
- Managing project deliverables, including calculations, CAD drawings, reports, and risk assessments while maintaining high-quality standards.
What We’re Looking For
This role is perfect for you if:
- You have completed a relevant professional institution IPD (such as IEng, EngTech, or CEng) with relevant experience, or hold a Level 6 or 7 qualification with appropriate experience.
- You possess a full UK driving licence.
- You are committed to acting safely, ethically, and with care for the environment and communities.
