About Us

Chestnut House Kindergarten is conveniently situated on a main road with excellent public transport links, just a short distance from the town center. Our nursery operates from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM, and we pride ourselves on creating a supportive family environment that uplifts every team member.

Position Details

  • Location: 45 Mill Road, Myland, Colchester, CO4 5LE
  • Hours: Full time - 40 hours
  • Salary: £29,245 per annum

Your Role as Room Leader

As a Room Leader, you will:

  • Provide stimulating and purposeful experiences tailored to children's age and development.
  • Support the holistic development of children, focusing on their physical, intellectual, social, and emotional needs.
  • Assist staff in maintaining high-quality updates on the EyLog system and children's learning journals.
  • Lead by example, promoting respect and credibility within the team.
  • Implement an effective key person approach to foster secure attachments.
  • Maintain accurate records related to children and staff on the EyMan system.
  • Ensure the safety and wellbeing of every child, staff member, parent, and visitor.
  • Understand and meet the requirements of the statutory framework for the EYFS.

What We’re Looking For

To thrive in this role, you should have:

  • Full and relevant Level 3 in Childcare qualification - Essential
  • Over 1 year’s experience working in Early Years - Essential
  • Over 6 months’ experience in a senior position - Desirable
  • Knowledge of Ofsted expectations for achieving a Good or Outstanding rating - Desirable
  • Understanding of the statutory framework for the EYFS - Essential
  • Fluency in written and spoken English - Essential
