Are you ready to make a significant impact on the future of rail infrastructure? We’re seeking a Senior Geotechnical Engineer to join our dynamic East West Rail team in St Neots, Cambridgeshire.

Location & Working Conditions

Location: St Neots, Cambridgeshire – hybrid working available
Hours: Permanent Full-time, 45 hours per week – we’re open to condensed hours and flexible scheduling. Just let us know what works for you!

Your Role

As part of our team, you will play a crucial role in delivering a range of surveys for the East West Rail project, specifically the Bedford to Cambridge section. You’ll coordinate and manage geotechnical ground investigations, ensuring safe and efficient delivery while achieving high-quality samples and tests.

Key Responsibilities

In your role as a Senior Geotechnical Engineer, you will:

  • Facilitate the planning and programming of ground investigation fieldwork with drilling suppliers.
  • Track and record progress against the program, auditing the quality and consistency of borehole log descriptions.
  • Conduct safety inspections and proactively record near misses and safety incidents.
  • Identify potential issues early and collaborate with drilling suppliers to find effective solutions.
  • Support drill rig inspections and coordinate with the land access manager regarding site availability.

What We’re Looking For

We’re excited to find someone who has:

  • A degree in Civil Engineering, Earth Sciences, Geology, or a related field, providing a solid technical foundation.
  • Extensive experience in delivering ground investigations and site-based geotechnical work.
  • Confidence in using AGS geotechnical data and Common Data Environment (CDE) systems to keep projects organized and compliant.
  • Experience managing subcontractors, showcasing strong planning, coordination, and communication skills.
  • A full driving license and the flexibility to travel to sites as needed.
