About the Role
As a 1:1 Learning Support Assistant, you will play a crucial role in assisting the educational and social development of a Year 6 and a Year 7 pupil with Special Educational Needs. Working under the direction of the SENDCo and teaching staff, your responsibilities will include:
- Supporting the Class Teacher in delivering tailored educational experiences.
- Preparing and maintaining differentiated resources to meet the pupil’s Educational Care Health Plan.
- Providing one-on-one or small group support across a variety of activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Support teaching and learning for individuals and small groups.
- Deliver targeted support for pupils with SEND, implementing IEPs and intervention programs.
- Promote positive behavior, independence, wellbeing, and inclusion.
- Provide pastoral support and contribute to safeguarding and child protection.
- Supervise pupils during breaktimes and other non-classroom activities.
- Assist in school events, educational visits, and extracurricular activities.
- Participate in meetings and professional development.
About You
We are looking for candidates who possess:
- Previous experience working with young people, preferably in an educational setting.
- Experience with children with SEND, particularly ASC or SEMH.
- GCSEs in Maths and English, grade C or above.
- A Level 3 Qualification in Learning Support or Childcare (desirable).
- Strong interpersonal skills to establish positive relationships with children.
- Basic computer literacy skills.
- A flexible approach to working as part of a team.
Working Conditions
This is a fixed-term, part-time position with 29.17 hours per week, starting in September. The salary is up to £15,423.23 per annum.
