Role Purpose

We are on the lookout for a passionate and energetic Play Worker to join our dynamic team as bank staff for our Holiday Club and occasional term-time Wraparound sessions. If you love working with children and can create a fun, engaging, and inclusive environment, this role is for you!

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Leading a variety of activities for children aged 2.5 to 11 years, ensuring their safety and well-being.
  • Inspiring children to explore their interests through multi-sports, arts & crafts, and structured play.
  • Building positive relationships with children, parents, and colleagues.
  • Following specific policies and procedures, including health and safety checks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver a safe, engaging, and enjoyable wraparound care and holiday club experience.
  • Plan and lead inclusive activities, including sports, arts and crafts, and educational games.
  • Supervise children at all times, ensuring their safety and positive behavior.
  • Create a welcoming environment where children can learn, develop confidence, and have fun.
  • Support the day-to-day operation of the wraparound and holiday club provision.
  • Maintain accurate attendance and activity records.
  • Assist with the preparation of resources and activity plans.
  • Administer first aid when required and complete associated documentation.
  • Safeguard and promote the welfare of children, following all school policies.

Person Specification

Essential

  • Experience working with children or young people.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with children, parents, and colleagues.
  • Flexible, organized, and able to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • A positive, energetic, and nurturing approach.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and act professionally at all times.
  • GCSE Grade C/4 or above in English and Maths (or equivalent).
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

Desirable

  • Childcare qualification (e.g., NVQ Level 3 or equivalent).
  • First Aid qualification.
  • Previous experience in a school, childcare, holiday club, or wraparound care setting.
  • Experience planning and delivering activities for children aged 2.5-11 years.
  • Competent user of Microsoft Office applications.
