Are you ready to take your career to the next level? Freedom is on the lookout for an enthusiastic Estimator / Bid Manager to lead the charge in LV to 132kV substation construction and asset replacement projects for our DNO and Private Network Owner Customers. This is your chance to make a significant impact while enjoying the flexibility of a country-wide role!

Your Role

In this dynamic position, you will:

  • Review tender enquiry packs and determine the scope and requirements for tender returns.
  • Conduct site visits to assess project needs or delegate this responsibility with clear objectives.
  • Produce detailed, fully costed proposals based on direct labour costs and quotes from our supply chain partners.
  • Consider project activity sequences, durations, resource levels, and methodologies to ensure successful delivery.
  • Submit costed proposals to Senior Management for review, focusing on risk and profit assessment.
  • Compile and hand over detailed packs to the Freedom Operations team for successful tenders.

Key Responsibilities

You will:

  • Ensure accurate and consistent preparation, review, and submission of customer proposals, adhering to specifications and value engineering.
  • Negotiate with customers post-tender to capture late scope changes and prepare best and final offers.
  • Manage the entire tendering process from enquiry receipt to submission and post-tender negotiations.
  • Coordinate internal and external cost elements to identify risks and establish mitigation plans.
  • Foster collaboration with customer representatives and all Freedom business units to maximize opportunities.

What We’re Looking For

You will have:

  • A higher qualification in an Engineering discipline, ideally in HV Power Engineering.
  • Practical experience with CDM 15 regulations and the ability to draft Construction Phase Plans.
  • A minimum of 5 years of HV engineering experience in a project environment focused on HV and EHV Substation works.
  • At least 2 years of experience in a commercial estimating, bidding, and customer-facing environment.
  • A practical working knowledge of high voltage electrical substations and associated equipment is beneficial.
