Location: Washington (covering the North East Region)
Contract Type: Full-time, Permanent
Salary: Up to £52,500 + Car/Car Allowance + Flexible Benefits

Are you ready to take the lead in delivering exceptional electrical service upgrade projects? At Freedom, we have an exciting opportunity for a Project Manager to spearhead our New Connections Service Upgrades contract with Northern Powergrid. This is your chance to make a significant impact by ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality project delivery across the North East!

Your Role

As a Project Manager, you will collaborate closely with operational teams, clients, and stakeholders to oversee multiple projects from initial planning to energisation and handover. Your leadership will be crucial in meeting programme, budget, and quality objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the day-to-day delivery of Service Upgrade projects, ensuring safety, timeliness, and budget adherence.
  • Lead and manage a dynamic team of Field Managers, Supervisors, Planners, Engineers, and Site Operatives.
  • Act as the primary operational contact with Northern Powergrid.
  • Ensure compliance with all HSQE policies, procedures, and legal requirements.
  • Manage multiple projects concurrently from planning through to energisation and handover.
  • Plan and allocate resources effectively to meet project demands.
  • Monitor KPIs and contract performance, implementing improvements as needed.
  • Ensure timely completion of project documentation, including RAMS and as-built records.
  • Liaise with local authorities, subcontractors, and key stakeholders for successful project delivery.
  • Support commercial performance through effective planning and resource management.
  • Promote a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement across all activities.

What We’re Looking For

Essential Qualifications:

  • Experience in operational or project management roles within cable installation, utilities, or power distribution.
  • Strong knowledge of LV cable networks.
  • Understanding of new connections processes in a regulated utility environment.
  • Proven leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent client and stakeholder management abilities.
  • Strong commercial awareness and contract management experience.
  • NEBOSH, IOSH, or equivalent Health & Safety qualification.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Experience working on Northern Powergrid contracts.
  • Knowledge of Streetworks and NRSWA requirements.
  • Project Management qualification (e.g., PRINCE2, APM).
