Location: Maidenhead, UK (Hybrid position: onsite three days a week)

Your Role

As the Director, Regional Ecosystem Lead, you will be a key leader in our innovation hubs, enhancing CSL's external brand and driving business development deal flow to grow our pipeline. This role is all about collaboration and strategic engagement, ensuring CSL maintains a strong presence across biotech, academia, and investment networks.

Main Responsibilities & Accountabilities

  • Act as CSL's key leader within the regional innovation ecosystem, actively sourcing opportunities aligned with our therapeutic area strategies and portfolio priorities.
  • Maintain and expand strategic relationships with universities, incubators, accelerators, venture capital firms, and local organizations to amplify CSL’s external innovation priorities.
  • Collaborate closely with Therapeutic Area Search Leads to conduct regional searches, plan engagements and conferences, and share valuable regional insights.
  • Serve as a senior member of deal teams, supporting transactions from identification through due diligence, and lead relationships with external partners until deal closure.
  • Organize and represent CSL at local external innovation events, ensuring strong visibility and engagement within the ecosystem.
  • Actively participate as a board member in key industry bodies and associations to influence industry direction and strengthen networks.
  • Maintain an intimate knowledge of internal organizational capabilities and engage with subject matter experts to enhance our external credibility.
  • Provide insights on regional biotech trends, competitive landscapes, and innovation hotspots.
  • Work closely with R&D, business development, and legal teams to evaluate and integrate external assets.

Qualifications & Experience Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in biopharma, external innovation, or business development, with a strong regional network and ecosystem knowledge.
  • Advanced degree required (PhD, MD, or equivalent).
  • Proven track record of enhancing Pharma senior leadership presence and reputation as a partner of choice in biotech ecosystems to drive deal flow.
  • Demonstrated ability to source and evaluate external opportunities and lead deal execution.
  • Exceptional relationship-building skills with academic, biotech, and investment communities.
