Your Role

As a Chef, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our hospital. While you won't be providing direct care, your contributions will help create a safe, comfortable, and welcoming environment for everyone. Here’s what you’ll be doing:

  • Planning, preparing, and cooking meals, considering special requests and dietary needs.
  • Ensuring compliance with our Food Safety policies and statutory regulations.
  • Taking full responsibility for the catering operation in the absence of the Head Chef.
  • Managing stock control efficiently, including placing orders and checking deliveries.

What You’ll Bring

We’re looking for someone who is not only skilled but also passionate about delivering high-quality food. Here’s what you need:

  • Essential:
    • NVQ Level 2 in Catering (or equivalent) and a Basic Food Hygiene qualification.
    • Previous experience in a professional kitchen.
    • Experience preparing meals for large groups.
    • Knowledge of food safety, hygiene, and health & safety regulations.
    • Excellent organization and time management skills.
    • Strong communication skills and a team-oriented mindset.
    • A passion for high-quality food and excellent customer service.
  • Beneficial:
    • Experience in healthcare or care home settings.
    • Knowledge of specialist diets (e.g., dysphagia, allergens).
    • Experience in stock ordering and food cost control.
    • Supervisory experience in a kitchen environment.
    • Menu planning skills to create nutritious, varied meals.
