Contract: Full-Time, Term Time Only
Basic Salary: £24,000 FTE

At Lyttelton House School, located in the heart of Andover, we create a safe and supportive environment for up to 60 pupils aged 5 to 16 with complex needs. Your Role

As a Tutor, you will play a vital role in supporting our students' personal and academic development. Here’s what you’ll be doing:

  • Enhancing wellbeing, readiness for learning, resilience, and behaviour management.
  • Collaborating with the Education Team to remove barriers to learning.
  • Promoting positive learning behaviours among our young people.
  • Leading classes during PPA and absence cover, with planning support from teaching staff.
  • Delivering engaging enrichment activities during 'Golden Time'.
  • Providing in-class support for academic, pastoral, emotional, or behavioural needs.
  • Addressing immediate concerns and resolving situations effectively.
  • Documenting lessons and interventions delivered.
  • Preparing information for meetings related to pupils.
  • Advocating for the ethos of Lyttelton House School.
  • Leading on Reading and Phonics, tracking progress.
  • Developing the Pupil Voice initiative in collaboration with the Senior Leadership Team.
  • Building relationships with parents/carers and supporting transitions.

What We’re Looking For

To thrive in this role, you should have:

  • A strong educational background, with at least GCSE Grade C (or equivalent) in English Language and Mathematics, along with solid IT skills.
  • Previous experience in a similar role (e.g., HLTA).
  • Experience working with pupils with SEMH in an educational setting.
  • The confidence to take on additional responsibilities in specific areas (e.g., Food Hygiene, Forest School, Lunchtimes, School Yoga, etc.).
  • Experience in behaviour management techniques.
  • A commitment to professional development and a willingness to learn.
