At Area Camden, part of the Polaris Community, we are dedicated to providing high-quality care that empowers young people to achieve their goals. As a Deputy Manager, you will play a vital role in creating a caring and respectful environment for young individuals aged 11-18.

Your Role

As our Deputy Manager, you will:

• Support the Registered Manager and step in when needed to oversee the daily operations of the home.
• Supervise, guide, and support staff, ensuring effective communication and high standards of practice.
• Manage key operational areas, including care quality, recruitment, training, and basic financial duties.
• Assess young people's needs and contribute to personalized care plans that address cultural, social, and emotional requirements.
• Promote positive behavior, independence, and active participation in decision-making.
• Ensure compliance with safeguarding requirements and relevant legislation.
• Maintain accurate records, including care plans and risk assessments.
• Build strong relationships with young people, families, staff, and external professionals.
• Assist with admissions, ensuring a smooth and welcoming transition for each young person.
• Attend meetings to share key information within the team and partner agencies.
• Ensure staff are trained and confident in relevant intervention strategies.

Essential Skills Required

• 2+ years of residential childcare experience.
• Hold a Level 3 Diploma for the Children and Young People's Workforce or equivalent.
• Experience in child protection.
• Strong leadership and staff supervision skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
• Experience in managing budgets and staff rotas.
• Project management skills with an enthusiastic disposition.
• A commitment to ongoing personal development.
• Proactive and solution-focused mindset.

Working Conditions

You will work within a rota pattern (08:00-20:00), supporting a minimum average of 168 hours per month. Your role is crucial in ensuring a safe and nurturing environment for our young people.
