About the Role

We are looking for a full-time Tutor / Unqualified Teacher to join our team at Herdley Bank School in Haltwhistle, Northumberland. This is a term-time only position with a basic salary of £24,000 FTE.

Your Responsibilities

• Support the improvement of wellbeing, readiness for learning, resilience, and behaviour management.
• Collaborate with the education team to help young people overcome barriers to learning.
• Promote positive learning behaviours and lead classes during PPA and absence cover.
• Deliver engaging enrichment activities and support lessons with academic understanding or pastoral needs.
• Respond to immediate concerns and clarify situations as they arise.
• Create and collate information related to lessons and interventions.
• Assist in preparing information for meetings about pupils.
• Advocate for the ethos of Herdley Bank School and lead on interventions, including reading and phonics.
• Develop the role of Pupil Voice and liaise with the Senior Leadership Team.
• Build relationships with parents/carers and actively participate in transitions and consultations.
• Lead ELSA sessions and complete relevant training.

What We’re Looking For

• A strong educational background with at least GCSE Grade C or equivalent in English Language and Mathematics.
• Previous experience in a similar role (e.g., HLTA, Tutor, or Unqualified Teacher).
• Experience working with pupils with SEMH/autism in an educational setting.
• Proficiency in behaviour management techniques.
• A commitment to professional development and a willingness to learn.
